About Dr Susan Bennett

Susan is the Principal of Sibenco Legal & Advisory and Founder & Director of InfoGovANZ.

Susan’s focus is on driving best practice holistic governance solutions aligning data, information, privacy and records with technology and regulatory compliance to achieve organisational strategic objectives. Susan has deep commercial, litigation and regulatory compliance expertise. She was the national head of a commercial litigation practice and established and led the legal technology support group. Susan works with Boards, senior executive teams and cross-functional multi-disciplinary teams on governance and data driven technology projects to minimise risks, comply with regulatory requirements and deliver on organisational objectives.

Susan founded InfoGovANZ in 2016 to bring together professionals working across the data and information silos to collaborate and develop best practices aligning policies, people and technology. InfoGovANZ has grown to over 2,500 members with a diverse community of professionals from legal, privacy, eDiscovery, records, data, technology and AI, cybersecurity, risk and compliance and ESG.

Susan’s doctoral thesis undertaken at the University of Sydney, Law School is on Privacy and Data Protection: the interaction of meta-regulation and information governance. Susan also holds a Master of Business Administration (UNSW) and a Master of Laws (Syd). She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional – Europe (CIPP/E), Certified Information Privacy Professional Technologist (CIPT), a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD), a Fellow of the International Association of Privacy Practitioners (FIP) and a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia (FGIA).
