Legal Movements You Should Know About: Rules As Code

Rules as Code, otherwise known as Digital Legislation, RegTech, Regulation-as-a-Platform, extends beyond creating digital-twin for legislation, to coding any rule or policy. This technology has the potential to reinvent the way laws, contracts and event compliance programs are written in the near future. This session will explore key concepts, the current state of play and opportunities for the astute lawyer.

About Andrew:

Andrew Mowbray is Professor of Law and Information Technology at the University of Technology Sydney. He is one of the Co-Founders and Co-Directors of the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII). Andrew is the author of much of the systems level software behind the AustLII system including the Sino search engine, the automated markup software, the LawCite citator and the yscript language which forms the basis of the DataLex applications development system. In 2014, he was awarded the NSW Law and Justice Foundation’s Justice Medal for his 25-year commitment to making legal information available online.
